Barbara Griffin obtained her B.S. in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology from the University of Central Florida in 2008. She obtained her law degree from The University of Akron School of Law in 2012. Mrs. Griffin is the daughter of Cuban immigrants and originally from Miami, Florida. She is fluent in Spanish.
Prior to joining the firm in 2016, Attorney Griffin practiced immigration law in Columbus, Ohio and Virginia Beach, Virginia where she represented clients before the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EORI) and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Attorney Griffin continues to represent immigration clients in Ohio with a focus on family-based and self-petition immigration cases. In 2022, Attorney Griffin became Partner making her the first female partner in the firm’s history.
Attorney Griffin also practices locally in the areas of custody, divorce, dissolution, juvenile law, guardianship, and adoption. She also has experience in corporate and small business law, concentrating in all aspects of business law from initial business startup, acting as ongoing counsel for daily operations and purchase and sales agreements, as well as planning for ownership succession.
As an alumnus of The University of Akron School of Law, Mrs. Griffin was president of the Asian-Latino Law Student Association and vice president of the Akron Criminal Justice Society.
Attorney Griffin is a member of the Portage County Bar Association, Akron Bar Association, and Ohio State Bar Association. She currently serves as Vice President/President Elect of the Portage County Bar Association Committee. Attorney Griffin also serves as a Guardian ad Litem in the Portage County Domestic Relations Division and Juvenile Division.
Mrs. Griffin currently resides in Stow with her husband, Jim, and their two children, Betty and Jimmy.
